It was soooo refreshing to read a book that has been well edited, with no grammatical errors or spelling errors, no mis-used words and a plot that flows smoothly with no inconsistencies!I've always loved Julia Quinn's books, especially the Bridgerton series. I had read this book in hardback a number of years ago, but rereading it was still a joy. In fact, I'm going to reread All of the books in this series. Ms. Quinn is a gifted author with a unique ability to tell an engaging story.
In this story, the H is Anthony B. and the h is Katherine (Kate), who is the overlooked older sister of Edwina. Kate and Edwina's father had died and the family was on a limited budget. As a result, both sisters were having their first Season together, even though Kate was almost 21 and Edwina was barely 18. Kate screened all the suitors for Edwina's hand and didn't want the H to court her because he was a Rake. As far as the H was concerned, Edwina was a perfect match because he didn't want to love his wife and felt sure that Edwina fit in that regard. In her attempts to protect Edwina, the h and H were constantly at odds. However, that gave the H the opportunity to really get to know the h and he realized that he liked what he saw, even though he was going to have to struggle not to fall in love with the h.
Ms. Quinn draws her characters so well that you feel their emotions with them. There are several mildly described sex scenes, but no profanity except an occasional "damn" from the H. All in all, you can't go wrong with this book and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys romance books.

The Viscount Who Loved Me Julia Quinn 9780749936587 Books Reviews
I'm busy rereading this series and as I didn't do a review when I first read it, I'll do a quick one now. There are loads of summaries with details of the story so I'll just say that whilst I enjoyed this book, I found it irritating that the H never really redeems himself for all of the awful stuff he said to the h. We know she's the plain older sister to a very beautiful and intelligent deb whom the H decides he wants to marry. In the end because he compromises the h, he is pressurised into marrying her. The h always feels like his second choice and I really think she deserved the words from him to make up for how awful he was to her in the beginning. Aside from that it is a lovely story if you can look past the h always being in her sister's shadow.
This book focuses on Anthony, the Viscount and eldest son of Edmund and Violet, and as stated in Ms QUinn's comments at the end of the story, centers on a personality trait that is little known about because it is often kept silent among young men- dealing with the loss of a beloved father years too soon. Also like most young men of wealth and power, he lived a life that was less than stellar. Then approaching his 30th year he makes the decision that he will fulfill his last obligation and marry, but his conclusions at 18 about life get in the way. He decides that his marriage will be one of comfort, amiability but no love- love causes hurt and pain. So he rationally choses a bride who is pleasant, competent, attractive, reasonably intelligent but one he will not fall in love with nor will fall in love with him. He selects one of the season's most attractive but doesn't take into account an older stepsister. I read the series of books several years ago and then back to re-read them before writing this review. I often notice that there are things in the second reading that impact on one's enjoyment of the stories. And while I do not regret purchasing the volumes, I concluded the first read through that after the first 5 stories, the young siblings' stories were not that interesting. This reading, I re-assessed again. This story was a bit difficult for me the first time because my own father died young and left sons barely out of high school or still in school. I also had a stepmother and younger half sisters. This one had a good stepmother, a consistent plot line and characterization as well as a solid relationship between the two sisters. Because the main character is an eldest son, I tended to want to force him into a female character but I had brothers and my father also died young so I understood Anthony better than some others might have. Because the writer presents a story well, it can hits "nerves" in one reader that distract enough so it only merits a "like" in rating, but its exactly because of that quality, it would be great to another. The story of the heroine is also very startling, and a reader who may have lost a mother early in life may find this a very difficult read as well.
The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn (Audio Edition) with 2nd Epilogue
Narrated by Rosalyn Landor
Series The Bridgertons #2
4.5 Stars - This was a fun listen, Kate and Anthony have a wonderful chemistry together. They bicker and snipe, yet each time fall for each other a little bit more. Their dialogue is witty, situations are funny and they have to be one of my favourite couples. Colin Bridgerton is great and always makes me smile. Of course I cannot forget to mention the fantastic Bridgerton Pall Mall match!
The bonus second epilogue is one of my favourites! As for narration, Rosalyn Landor does a great job as always.
